Story 5

George Geoffries, age 14, set in his home and school

George Kevin David Geoffries was born to Shirley and Christopher Geoffries on September 13th 1998. He was chil number seven. In the following years a further six were born. Thirteen in total. Being the middle child he was often somewhat overlooked. After all, he had six muscular, Welsh, rugby finalists for brothers, and six pretty, girls (yet particularly unpleasant) young ladies for sisters. He was just the hinge. The ajoining piece that separted the older siblings from the younger siblings. The unmemorable little runt who had been six weeks premature. One day he would be one of the most oved and respected pioneers of the film industry Great Britain has ever know, but for the time being he would remain simple George Geoffries, the boy with asthma, excema, contact lenses and twelve brothers and sisters.

He felt sorry for hisparents, 13 children. 13 is an unlucky number, in this case, George thought it was truly unlucky. 13 children, 13 children to love, 13 children to teach. 12 children to teach in George’s case, he coud teach himself. But being the eldest held him back for years of his life. But his parents saw him as a wonder boy. They had no idea how he helped with cooking, cleaning, babysitting and still m,anaging to get his homework done.

6.30am his clock beeps. 15minutes to pull on his clothes. Then he goes downstairs to help get breakfast ready before his siblings eat the lot. How he quickly eatswith his parents then gets his bag ready. Then, likeevery morning, he smells pee, pee coming from up the stairs. One of them has obviousy wet the bed again, before he can heartheir feet on the stairs he dashes off to school.

Outside everything was grey. Grey rain, falling from grey clouds, onto grey houses, in a greystreet. He ran to school through the cold streets and wished for sunshine.

Th cobbled floor dug into his feet like thorns. His throat was dry from running and his eyes were aching from looking in the rain, it was a struggle to see. He felt himself carry on. He heard chimes from the clock tower, the seconds, pounding hisheart, keeping him going. If he opened that gate late Mr Blue would cane him 50 times. He had to get to school!
